Compatibility between plugins and modules

The new component is no longer compatible with old modules or plugins. When you upgrade the hwdVideoShare component you MUST upgrade all your plugins and modules otherwise, you will get errors and/or blank screens!

Just take some time to check which hwdVideoShare software you have installed and upgrade it.

Core plugins

The core plugins (English Language, Default Template, FLOW Player) are no longer integrated into the component. They must be installed separately. Normally these plugins will be installed automatically during the installation of the component. However, if there is a problem, you can just install them separately using the stand alone versions included in the package.

You must ensure these plugins are installed:

  • plug_hwd_vs_lang_english.tar.gz
  • plug_hwd_vs_template_default.tar.gz
  • plug_hwd_vs_thirdparty_google.tar.gz
  • plug_hwd_vs_thirdparty_youtube.tar.gz
  • plug_hwd_vs_videoplayer_flow.tar.gz
  • plug_hwd_vs_videoplayer_jwflv.tar.gz

Uber Uploader

The version of Uber Uploader included with hwdVideoShare has been upgraded. This ensures you are using the latest and most secure version of the upload script. However, this upgrade does mean you will need to replace your Perl script with an updated version. If you don't upgrade the script, the upload will hang at 99% and not continue.

To replace your Perl script:

  • Download Ubr_upload.pl
  • Unzip the file on your local computer
  • Upload the file called 'ubr_upload.pl' to the cgi-bin on your server and replace the old version from the previous release of hwdVideoShare.

No other modifications should be necessary to get your Perl Uploads working normally again.

Re-select Plugins in the General Settings

The core plugins have moved. Therefore, you might need to go into the General Settings of hwdVideoShare and re-select the Default Template and English Language, to ensure the new plugins are used correctly.

Using hwdRevenueManager?

Don't forget to upgrade that component also!
